Menu déroulant invisible firefox et démarrage

Bonjour à tous,
J'ai un problème des plus bizarre. Dans firefox, mes menu déroulant n'apparaissent plus, ainsi que les menu du clic droit et également les présélection dans les formulaires à remplir.
Dans le même genre, la fenêtre pour éteindre, déconnecter, etc... n'apparait pas. Dans le menu kick-off je sélectionne éteindre puis l'écran se grise et c'est tout. En appuyant sur entrée la sélection se fait et je ne suis pas obligé d'attendre les 30 secondes.
Ces deux problèmes sont apparu en même temps sans que je comprenne pourquoi.
Sur mon PC j'ai 4 session, mais celà ne se produit que sur une seule et que pour firefox et le menu éteindre.
J'ai regardé dans la configuration du bureau, mais n'est rien trouvé...
Je suis sous kubuntu 14.04 LTS.
J'avoue ne plus trop savoir ou chercher

Essaie avec un autre thème… Moi j'ai tout laissé par défaut, comme les choix sont déjà bon niveau visibilité / look.

Tout d'abord désolé du temps de réponse. C'est l'été et je suis pas mal pris. Et bien sur merci de votre aide.
@ nam1962 : Le safe mode de firefox ne résout pas le problème.
@abecidofugy : Je n'avais pas pensé à ça. Malheureusement celà ne change rien.
C'est troublant tous les autres logiciels marche très bien. Et le problème ne vient pas ( ou pas que) de firefox puisque le menu de déconnexion n'aparait pas non plus à l'écran...
Si vous avez d'autres pistes ou idées...

Rebonsoir,
Du nouveau de mon côté mais pas du bon. J'ai essayé une nouvelle fois de désactiver les effets du bureau pour voir, mais rien n'a changé. Alors j'ai voulu réactiver les effets du bureau. Mais là plus moyen j'ai un message d'erreur me disant qu'il ne peut pas réactiver les effets sans me dire les causes possibles.
Je suis de plus en plus dans le flou.

Bonjour,
Comme qui dirait mieux vaut tard que jamais...
J'ai regardé du côté du pilote graphique mais a priori il est à jour est en ordre de marche.
J'ai réparé firefox selon les options que tu m'as donné nam1962, et au passage j'ai remis par défaut la plupart des options du bureau et retiré les effets 3D.
Mais rien n'y fait. Toujours pas de menu ou d'option qui s'affiche avec firefox et pas de menu d'extinction lors de l'arrêt ou autre.
Bref rien.
Si vous avez une autre idée...
dans tout les cas merci de votre aide.

Tu as plein de PPA precise, donc deux fois obsolètes.

Les virer sans savoir ce qu'ils contiennent… Ils ont beau avoir un nom contenant "precise", ils ont peut-être été modifiés par une mise à niveau et contiennent maintenant des ppa trusty dont certains existent probablement, alor pourquoi tout virer ?

J'ai lancé les différentes commandes pour remettre de l'ordre dans les sources.
De toute façon si on n'arrive pas à s'en, sortir je le jette par la fenêtre!

Bon, première question : ton Firefox est il plus lisible ?
Si non (et que tu n'as pas une tripotée de marques-page indispensables) tu peut tenter de reparer firefox : aide - informations de dépanage - réparer firefox

Seconde question, qu'est ce qui t'est indispensable dans ces PPA (si ils existent pour trusty) :

Pour firefox aucune amélioration. J'ai déjà effectué la réparation. n'ayant plus accès à aucun menu j'étais passé par la barre d'adrese en mettant "about:support". Ce qui reviens au même j'espère?
Mais celà n'a pas réglé le problème.
Pour les PPA je pense que ceux là devrait suffire :

Pour strycore j'ignore ce que c'est pour l'instant.

Pour Firefox on va encore tenter un truc :
Ferme Firefox

sudo apt-get remove --purge firefox
mv ~/.mozilla ~/.mozilla_old
sudo apt-get install firefox

Pour playonlinux, steam et wine, ils sont dans les dépôts officiels : sûr d'avoir besoin des PPA ?

J'ai un soucis pour la première commande il me renvoi :

puis ouvre la fenêtre pour gérer les sources.
Ensuite pour firefox j'ai lancé les commandes ( dont voici le résultat en dessous )mais rien ne change.
J'ai remarqué que l'icône de la souris se transformait quand je tentais de cliquer sur un menu. La grosse flèche bleu deviens petite flèche bleu. Désolé ma description est imprécise...
