Je ne sais vraiment pas si c'est la bonne section puisque je ne comprends pas moi même mon problème et j’espère que vous ne m'en voudrez pas beaucoup :/

Je viens vers vous car après avoir épuisé toutes les solutions que j'ai pu glaner à droite à gauche je n'y comprend rien ..

Tout d'abord mon problème :

je suis en version 18.04. Je n'ai absolument rien fait (pas de maj de version ou autre) et en démarrant mon pc hier soir, je me suis retrouvé lors du démarrage d'ubuntu (donc après le GRUB) avec le message :

" A start job is running for hold until boot process finishes up (23s / no limit) " en freeze variant entre 23s et 24s lors du freeze.

Ce message apparait juste après le "Removed slice user Slice of *mon nom d'utilisateur* "

J'ai accès à mon shell (?) avec ctrl + alt + f2

j'ai accès au mode recovery lors du GRUB.

Ce que j'ai fait maintenant :

Tout d'abord j'ai effectué un boot-repair en live cd mais après plusieurs tentatives de réparation infructueuses je me suis dis que de toute façon boot-repair c'est surtout pour les problèmes liés au GRUB (je me trompe ? )

j'ai suivi ensuite ceci https://askubuntu.com/questions/760825/cannot-boot-system-due-to-start-job-running-for-hold (le lien qui ma donné le plus d’espoir)

en changeant le gdm3 par l'environnement lightdm, j'arrive jusqu'à mon écran de connexion en environnement lightdm. Seul problème lorsque je tape mon MDP l'écran devient noir 2s et me remet l'écran de connexion indéfiniment.. du coup je suis repassé en gdm3 mais toujours le même problème (c'est en faisant ceci que je me suis dis que peut être mon problème venait de la)

ensuite en recovery mode, en root j'ai vidé ce que je pouvais de mon dev/sda1 car j'avais lu quelque part que cela pourrait être lié a mon disque trop plein. Il était a 81% je l'ai vidé jusqu'à 61% en ne virant que des films et séries (donc non pas de fichiers importants 😃 ) mais rien n'a changé.

j'ai bien sur fait tous les apt update, upgrade, dist-upgrade, full-upgrade bref tout est à jour.

dans mes options GRUB en option ubuntu avancé, j'ai accès a Ubuntu linux 4.15.0-91-generic et Ubuntu linux 4.15.0-88-generic avec chacun leurs recovery mode mais sur les deux noyaux, le problème persiste donc je ne pense pas que ce soit lié.

Je suis donc totalement perdu et si une âme charitable en ces moments de confinement voudrait bien m'aider, cela m'arrangerait grandement et je suis prêt à lui offrir une bière 😃

Les fichiers de démarrage de [Ubuntu 18.04.4 LTS] sont loin du début du disque. Votre BIOS pourrait ne pas les détecter. Vous voudrez peut-être re-essayer après avoir créé une partition /boot (EXT4, >200MB, en début de disque). Cela peut être réalisé via des outils tels que gParted. Tu as écrit : "j'ai accès au mode recovery lors du GRUB" mais est-ce que tu parviens à ouvrir une session graphique dans ce mode Recovery en sélectionnant "resume" (voir paragraphe 3.1 resume : Reprendre le démarrage normal) ?
je viens de tester et lors du mode résume, j'ai juste le tiret blanc clignotant sans que rien ne se passe.

est-ce grave si le boot info vient de boot-repair-disk ? comme j'avais déjà créer un live cd je me suis dis que ce serait plus simple pour moi.

Non, ce n'est pas grave. C'est seulement que j'avais cru comprendre que tu parvenais à démarrer une session graphique en mode "Recovery" et je m'étonnais que tu aies eu besoin de recourir à boot-repair-disk pour réaliser le Boot-info.
Je ne sais pas trop quoi te proposer pour réparer ton Ubuntu.
j'ai tout essayé .. même les solutions les plus farfelues et de ce que je vois je ne suis pas le seul à avoir ce problème.. ne vois tu pas quelque chose dans le boot info qui pourrait faire défaut ? ce n'est pas tellement les fichiers que je n'ai pas envie de perdre (car récupérable en terminal) mais la configuration ma pris énormément de temps ... mais bon si la seul solution est une ré installation, je m'y plierais ...

Je ne vois rien dans le Boot-info qui puisse correspondre à ton problème. Mais on ne voit pas tout dans un Boot-info. Il y a d'autres aidants qui peuvent avoir des pistes à te proposer, des vérifications à faire. Sinon, c'est la réinstallation.

EDIT : dans le post #1, tu as noté "Je n'ai absolument rien fait (pas de maj de version ou autre)" mais Ubuntu fait des mises à jour automatiques en arrière plan y compris des mises à jour du noyau. Ce qui fait que tu peux éteindre ton ordi avec le noyau N qui marchait bien et le rallumer le lendemain avec le noyau N+1 qui merdouille avec ton ordi. Dans ton cas, ce n'est pas un changement du noyau qui a mis le brun (puisque le pb est le même avec 4.15.0-88 et 4.15.0-91) mais ça pourrait être la mise à jour d'un autre paquet.

J'interviens peut-être à contre-temps et avec une solution un peu risquée mais j'ai rencontré la même difficulté sur une installation fraîche de la version 19.10 Eoan Ermine. Au fil de certains posts, j'ai cru comprendre que le problème rencontré (et sa solution) est analogue sous 18.10 et 19.04. Sur les conseils du forum anglophone, j'ai installé les dernières versions du kernel :

Ce n'est peut-être pas très prudent mais pour moi ce fut des plus efficace.

Méthode :
  • Se rendre sur la page https://kernel.ubuntu.com/~kernel-ppa/mainline
  • Choisir la dernière version stable disponible
  • Dans la rubrique amd64 (si votre appareil est amd64, ce qui est le plus fréquent en PC de bureau), télécharger les fichiers *.deb suivants :
    • linux-headers-...-all.deb
    • linux-headers-...generic_..._amd64.deb
    • linux-image-...generic_..._amd64.deb
    • linux-modules-...generic_..._amd64.deb
  • Installer les paquets (a priori il faut le faire dans l'ordre tels qu'ils apparaissent ci-dessus)
  • Redémarrer
  • Et rouler jeunesse...
