Problème Dual Boot : seul W10 se lance

Bonjour,
j'ai déjà un peu d'expérience dans le domaine du dual boot Linux/Windows, sans en être du tout un spécialiste. Les fois assez nombreuses où j'ai déjà fait cela, tout s'est toujours bien passé et je n'ai pas eu à creuser davantage...
Mais là, si quelqu'un de plus calé que moi peut m'aider, ce serait volontiers !

J'ai un portable Toshiba Satellite pro neuf, livré avec Windows 10 préinstallé.
Un SSD 256 Go et un HDD 1To.

J'ai réduit (depuis Windows) les deux "principales" partitions windows à peu près d'un facteur 2 pour installer Ubuntu : OK.
Je ne parle plus que du SSD (pour le moment je n'ai rien fait de plus sur le HDD).

Quelques difficultés pour qu'il accepte de booter sur la clé USB, même en mettant dans le BIOS "USB" en premier. J'ai tourné un moment, essayé F12 au démarrage, le Boot Menu.

C'est en désactivant le Secure Boot que ça semble marcher le mieux.

J'ai réussi hier à installer XUbuntu 20.04 sans difficulté particulière.
J'ai d'ailleurs bossé dessus toute la journée, installé des logiciels, des comptes....
Il me semble (je finis par douter) que grub fonctionnait correctement.

Et aujourd'hui : l'ordi boote systématiquement sur Windows.
Je n'arrive absolument pas à le faire booter sur XUbuntu.

J'ai remis ma clé Live-USB.
Ai installé et effectué boot-repair. (j'ai fait la réparation "recommandée")

Le résultat est ici

boot-repair m'a conseillé de faire, sous windows :
bcdedit /set {bootmgr} path \EFI\ubuntu\shimx64.efi

J'avoue que je n'ai pas osé car je comprends bien que là, je touche à ce qui fait démarrer windows.
Si quelqu'un de plus calé que moi peut me confirmer que c'est là ma solution, un grand merci !

Complément un peu plus tard : ce qui se passe est vraiment très très étrange, j'y perds mon latin.
Il m'est à peu près impossible de démarrer sur ma clé Live USB.
Enfin, j'y arrive... parfois.
Je pensais que désactiver le Secure Boot "marchait" mais non. Ca marche une seule fois. Impossible ensuite de rebooter sur la clé.
Par contre si je retourne dans le Bios et réactive le Secure Boot, là je peux à nouveau redémarrer sur ma clé (en Secure Boot, donc). Une seule fois !!!
Bon j'essaie d'y voir plus clair mais là je tourne un peu en bourrique.

Il faut que je recherche précisément ce que j'avais fais il y a quelques années sur un toshiba satellite, mais une modification avec efibootmgr se retrouvait écrasée à chaque redémarrage. Il me semble que tu es confronté à la même chose vu que ça fonctionne et quand tu redémarres, tu n'accèdes plus au grub.
Toshiba écrase tes modifications et rétabli le boot d'origine au redémarrage.
J'avais pour ma part supprimé l'entrée de boot windows avec efibootmgr puis recrée celle-ci en pointant non pas sur bootmgfw.efi mais sur grubx64.efi pour faire croire que ça démarre sur windows mais en fait ça démarre sur le grub . C'est de la bidouille mais ça fonctionne.

Une solution de contournement pour l'instant est de passer par F12, de choisir ton disque et ça devrait t'ouvrir un menu pour choisir entre Windows et XUbuntu.
Si tu arrives à démarrer comme ceci, regarde comment se fait le boot:

je n'ai en fait depuis hier pas réussi à redémarrer sur mon Linux installé une seule fois.

F12 n'y donne pas accès : j'ai seulement "Windows Boot Manager" (plus des entrées réseau je crois)

Le boot sur clé USB Live est difficile : ça fonctionne parfois, parfois non.
Il me semble avoir remarqué que ça fonctionne systématiquement une fois juste après avoir modifié le statu du Secure Boot, peu importe dans quel sens : de "Enabled" à "Disabled" ou l'inverse. Mais une seule fois.

Bref là je tourne en rond.

Ce que tu me dis correspond plus ou moins à ce que j'ai pu voir en ligne (voir sur le site ubuntu fr) mais ça a l'air pas simple et, n'étant pas spécialiste, je n'ai pas envie de faire une bêtise et de bousiller windows qui, jusque là, démarre toujours très bien.

J'ai après accès sur la clé Live Ubuntu réussi hier soir un grub-install (je passe tous les détails un peu scabreux) qui en apparence s'est passé normalement mais ça n'a strictement rien changé.

Pour moi, boot-repair (dont le rapport est de moins en moins lisible, ceci dit au passage : "filtered", c'est bien joli, mais on ne voit plus grand chose pour certaines commandes) a fait n'importe quoi. Outre ses renommage foireux, ses entrées pourries dans GRUB.cfg qu'il ne propose plus en lecture), il a créé des fichiers efi dans la partition 5 alors qu'il existait une partition efi en 1.

Ça n'empêche pas ton BIOS/UEFI de continuer à booter sur Windows en priorité. Moi, tout ça me semble très bordélique, et je t'avoue qu'à ta place, je nettoierais toutes les traces de boot-repair, et je reinstallerais Ubuntu correctement pour repartir de quelque chose de propre. Quitte à réparer, autant éviter de traiter le fouillis créé par ce soft qui est de plus en plus intrusif. Il me semble même devenir dangereux pour la santé du système en place.

Attends d'autres avis, car je suis de plus en plus critique sur ce que peut faire cet outil en uefi.

Oui oui j'attends encore un peu.
Mais encore une fois je ne suis pas du tout spécialiste de l'UEFI et de grub.

"Nettoyer toutes les traces de boot-repair" je veux bien mais je ne suis pas sûr du tout de savoir faire.

Réinstaller totalement Ubuntu là je devrais être capable (j'y pense évidemment) et comme c'est le tout début avec cet ordi ce n'est pas si gênant mais :

*) pourquoi cela donnerait un résultat différent ?
*) si je n'ai pas nettoyé toutes les traces de boot-repair est-ce grave ? (sachant que dans ce cas je reformatte la partition linux sur le SSD - et aussi celle du HDD mais là ça n'a rien à voir)
*) incidemment quitte à tout recommencer je vois que vous êtes plusieurs à déconseiller /home sur une partition séparée - on sort du cadre de ce fil mais bref j'essaie de comprendre les arguments des pour et des contre

J'aimerais surtout réussir à faire fonctionner ce dual boot....

Cette partition est probablement une partition spécifique à Toshiba puisqu'elle contenait ceci :

Et bien sûr, boot-repair propose un rapport md5sum avant, mais pas après. Ensuite, il a ajouté son fichier pourri 25_custom, et seuls les habitués sauront qu'il est là, puisque le rapport n'affiche plus le contenu complet de GRUB.cfg

Add /mnt/boot-sav/nvme0n1p6/boot/efi efi entries in /mnt/boot-sav/nvme0n1p6/etc/grub.d/25_custom

Et au bout du compte, il n'a strictement rien réglé puisque le blocage vient très certainement de ton BIOS qui est verrouillé sur "Window boot manager". Comme boot-repair a bidouillé le dossier /efi/boot/ de deux partitions, ça veut dire qu'il faut, par sécurité, remettre le fichiers initiaux, virer 25_custom, et enfin trouver comment contourner le blocage de base, soit en ajoutant une entrée depuis le BIOS, soit en détournant l'entrée Windows. Et pour être honnête, je ne me sens pas le courage de me lancer là-dedans.

Le problème avec boot-repair (que je ne connaissais pas) c'est que dès que j'ai cliqué "réparation recommandée" il a tout fait sans aucun avertissement ni demande de confirmation (ce à quoi je m'attendais). Si j'avais vu qu'il procédait à de telles modifications j'y aurais sans doute réfléchi à deux fois...
Je continue de réfléchir....

Moi aussi comme ikewdu j'ai du mal avec le rapport de Boot-repair que j'ai collé dans le post #3. Cet outil (Boot-repair) est en pleine évolution pour s'adapter aux versions les plus récentes de Ubuntu mais nous les experts, nous avons du mal à suivre. Je te prie de ne pas faire un Boot-repair mais seulement un Boot-info depuis une session live de Ubuntu 20.04 et de donner l'URL de ce Boot-info dans ta réponse.

Je confirme déjà la méthode baroque que j'ai trouvée pour booter sur la clé USB : aller dans l'UEFI,
changer le Secure Boot d'état (disabled->enabled ou l'inverse, peu importe !) et quand je sors de l'UEFI en enregistrant les changements, ça démarre sur la clé USB sans problème... Étrange - est-ce que ça a un lien avec mon problème aucune idée mais ce BIOS/UEFI m'a tout de même l'air étrange

J'ai donc lancé Ubuntu sur la clé Live USB et voici le résultat :

Mais comme le paragraphe commence par "La méthode Boot-Repair prend en charge ce cas-là mais n'explique pas ce qui se passe. " J'ai des doutes.....

Je comprends ce que tu veux dire, mais remettre les fichiers d'origine dans nvme0n1p5 je ne m'en sens pas forcément. (et je ne sais pas à quoi sert cette partition et ces fichiers : c'est pour réinstaller Windows au besoin ?)
Quoique si... j'ai bien compris que le bootx64.efi d'origine a été sauvegardé dans bkpbootx64.efi avant d'être écrasé...
Annuler la ligne mv et les deux lignes cp je vois.... Je me sens peut-être de retrouver les trois fichiers initialement présents. Tu es sûr qu'elle ne contenait que ces trois fichiers là ?
Je ne comprends pas encore à la lecture du rapport de boot-repair comment sont arrivés les

/efi/ubuntu/grubx64.efi
/efi/ubuntu/shimx64.efi
/efi/microsoft/boot/memtest.efi /bootmgr /boot/bcd

(il faudrait les supprimer ??? j'hésite fort surtout pour la dernière ligne)

En gros ça te semblerait plus prudent d'annuler ce qu'a fait boot-repair, au cas où j'aurais à réinstaller Windows, c'est bien ça ?

Pourquoi dis-tu "Comme boot-repair a bidouillé le dossier /efi/boot/ de deux partitions,"
quelles deux partitions ? la 5 je vois la 6 je m'en moque si je réinstalle Xubuntu non ?
(idem pour 25_custom il est sur la 6)

Dans /efi/boot/, il a ajouté un grubx64.efi ; il a renommé bootx64.efi en bkpbootx64.efi, et l'a remplacé par shimx64.efi qu'il a renommé en bootx64.efi. On se demande bien pourquoi dans la mesure où les PC bootant sur bootx64.efi sont de plus en plus rares, et que c'était surtout vrai avec les bios Toshiba livrés avec W8. Le reste semble d'origine.

Il a également ajouté ses entrées maison (qui ne fonctionnent jamais) dans grub.cfg

Bref, il a ajouté du bazar, rien de plus. Quoi qu'il en soit, la première chose à faire de ton côté est de voir si ton Bios-uefi permet d'ajouter des entrées de boot, ou mieux encore, de déplacer celle qui correspond à "boot0001" en tête de liste. Elle pointe vers le bon chemin, alors que l'autre entrée Ubuntu pointe sur la partition nvme0n1p5 qui n'a pas à être utilisée comme partition efi. Si ça n'est pas possible, il faudra tenter des solutions plus "artificielles".

Quant au bazar ajouté par BP, on le verra plus tard, une fois que le problème de boot sur Ubuntu aura trouvé une solution.

Je me demande pourquoi tu as des traces de Linpus lite... peut-être as-tu une idée.

Le Bios/UEFI ne permet strictement rien.
Il y a 4 entrées possibles pour le boot :
USB HDD1 HDD2 LAN
et c'est absolument tout !
La seule chose que je peux faire c'est de changer l'ordre de ces 4 là, ce qui en l'occurrence ne sert pas à grand chose.
(Il existe bien une mise à jour du Bios qui est disponible mais aucune idée, absolument aucune de ce qu'elle contient, le site Toshiba n'en dit strictement rien. Je serais fort étonné toutefois si....

Je me dirige effectivement vers les solutions "artificielles".
Il y a un endroit où je pourrais déconseiller l'achat de ce modèle ?
Je m'étais un peu renseigné avant de l'acheter, mais, à l'évidence, pas assez...

Ah et Linpus Lite aucune idée je ne sais pas ce que c'est. Il m'a semblé le voir associé à ma clé USB, c'est flou dans mon esprit.

Tu peux tenter de modifier l'ordre avec efibootmgr en mettant 0001 en 1er comme préconisé par ikewdu , mais je doute que ça fonctionne, si ça démarre sur windows, la modification sera écrasée. Enfin tu ne risques rien à essayer.

sudo efibootmgr -o 0001,0007,2004,0004,2005,2001,2003

Si ça ne fonctionne pas, tu pourras supprimer et recréer l'entrée windows pour qu'elle pointe sur grubx64.efi (ou shimx64.efi en démarrage sécurisé)
Pour que je te donne la ligne de commande, j'ai simplement un doute car je suis sur une Ubuntu-mate 18.04 et je n'ai pas les mêmes noms que toi:
/File(\EFI\UBUNTU\GRUBX64.EFI) chez moi et /File(EFIBootgrubx64.efi) pour toi. peux-tu me confirmer qu'il n'y a pas eu de changement sur une 20.04?
Pour savoir:

sudo ls -l /boot/efi/EFI/ubuntu

Bon il y a certainement la réponse dans le boot-info mais j'ai la flemme de le lire :rolleyes: Le ls donnera directement la réponse.

*) je reboote : sur windows !
*) je reviens sur ma clé usb live ; même manips que là haut (j'installe efibootmgr)
*) sudo efibootmgr -v : le 0001 en tête a disparu

je suppose qu'il faut déjà que je monte ma partition /dev/nvme0n1p1 ? (la partition "ESP") ?

Si je suis au bon endroit les fichiers grubx64.efi et shimx64.efi sont donc dans /EFI/ubuntu/ (à partir de la racine de la partition)
Je ne sais pas si j'ai bien compris... je n'ai pas, ici, de /boot et de /efi en cascade

Je préférais vérifier qu'avec un live j'ai la même chose, c'est bien le cas.
Du coup tu peux supprimer l'entrée windows:

sudo efibootmgr -b 0004 -B

Et la recréer en pointant sur grubx64 (en désactivant le démarrage sécurisé sinon voir shimx64)

sudo efibootmgr -c -b 0004 -L "Windows Boot Manager" -l /EFI/ubuntu/grubx64.efi

Attention, je me suis basé sur les indications du dernier message de ikewdu, en supposant qu'il n'y ait pas eu de modifications entre temps et que ton ubuntu soit bien opérationnel en réalité. Si ça ne fonctionnait pas, on remettra avec un live par défaut sur Windows en récréant l'entrée.
