Ça semble étrange, puisque tu aurais installé le bureau Unity...?
Il y aurait là anguille sous roche, le système est peut-être incorrectement installé ?

La recherche est effectuée dans Fichiers et dossiers et non dans les applications donc il est normal de ne pas trouver de programme.

j'ai refais une recherche en incluant toutes les options de recherches,
et, sauf erreur ou mauvaise manip, je n'arrive pas a ouvrir la calculatrice (par exemple) (voir photos #21)

il en ai de même pour le scanner et l'appli "simple scan" qui n'apparait pas alors que toutes les options de recherches sont cochées

Clique sur l’image que j’ai postée (qui est une reprise de la tienne) pour l’agrandir et voir ainsi où cliquer pour la recherche d’applications.

P.S. : si unity (qui a été abandonné par canonical) est trop compliqué, autant passer à Gnome-shell.

ok, j'ai effectué des recherches dans tous les onglets du bas, dont l'onglet A pour les applications

j'ai donc refais la recherche, cal pour la calculatrice, scan pour "simple scan" et en cochant toutes les cases de droite (et en décochant tout aussi)

Pour aller directement a Applications clic droit sur l'icone Chercher sur l'ordinateur

C'est vrai qu'Unity était un peu déroutant parce qu'il fallait faire l'effort de le comprendre, ensuite on s’apercevait que c'était le bureau le plus pratique , le plus logique
Gnome est pas mal aussi

si je peux continuer a donner des précisions (et en comparant avec ce qui se passait avant la mise a jour):
dans la recherche, lorsque je tapais "c" il m'affichait toutes les applications commençant par "c"
puis je tapais "a" et s"affichait toutes les appli commençant par "ca"
la liste diminuait

là rien, si je tape "c" il n'y a pas de résultat

j'ai tout fermé, redémarré l'ordinateur

la recherche fonctionne (comme avant):
elle affiche les "utilisées récemment"
elle affiche les appli au fur et a mesure que j'écris dans la recherche

je ne sais pas quelle est la bonne formule (magique) mais ça re-fonctionne

je vous remercie tous et toutes pour le temps passé à résoudre ces problèmes informatiques (qui pollue la vie quand on ne sais pas par ou commencer)

En version 20.10, il existe une calculatrice dont l'icône est stockée dans le paquet utilitaires. Elle peut être ajoutée aux favoris.
