J'ai donc refait toute la procédure.
En utilisant cette fois 2 instructions:
cd Bureau
puis
sh hplip-3.20.11
Plus simple et plus court que :
sh /home/yvon/Bureau/hplip-3.20.11
Si je laisse aller l'opération jusqu'au terme, à un moment donné, il m'indique que hplip3.20.11 existe, mais qu'il risque d'y avoir des conflits, sans doute avec le 3.17 se trouvant dans les dépôts d’Ubuntu 18.
Il propose de l'éradiquer.
C'est là que je quitte (ce que je ne faisais pas lors des précédentes tentatives)
Lors des tentatives précédentes, allant jusqu'au bout, je perdais hplip, et je ne pouvais plus imprimer ni scanner sur mon imprimante.
Donc cette fois, quittant avant qu'il n'éradique, mon imprimante et scan fonctionnent.
Je mets à toutes fins informatives le retour du terminal.

Notes:
1. If no serial number, USB ID, IP, or device node is specified, the USB and parallel busses will be probed for devices.

$ hp-setup --auto 003:011
(Note: You may have to run 'lsusb' from /sbin or another location. Use '$ locate lsusb' to determine this.)
3. Parameters -a, -f, -p, or -t are not valid in GUI (-u) mode.
