Je pense que tu as eu totalement raison de faire une installation neuve.
Au moins. il n'y a pas de surprises. C'est du classique qui se réalise globalement en une heure en deux étapes indépendantes
Disons 30 minutes pour télécharger et 30 minutes pour installer.
Pour ne pas parler dans le vide voici les actions que j'ai fait aujourd'hui
1) Téléchargement de la version 19.04 (30 minutes environ)
2) Installation de la version 19.04 (30 minutes environ)
3) Connexion et demande de mise à jour du logiciel.
4) Constat qu'il me propose de
mettre à niveau mais que la version téléchargée dit son incompétence à mettre à niveau

7) Lancement de la mise à jour du logiciel
sudo apt upgrade
il y aura 1352 fichiers de téléchargés. C'est globalement le même temps que de télécharger l'ISO
Au début tout se passe bien.
Puis un message pas si facile à comprendre (je l'ai capturé)

Je pensais avoir compris que toute l'installation se ferait et que ce n'est qu'ensuite que les applications se lanceraient.
Ce ne fut pas le cas
8) L'application firefox a mis en route. Tant bien que mal, j'ai pu libéré l'écran pour avoir la suite.
9) L'application bureau a mis en route

et a demandé mon mot de passe
Notons que dans les temps cela allait à peu près car il ne s'était écoulé que 1 heures 40
10) Mon mot de passe n'est pas reconnu.
J'ai pas mal galéré avec quelques reboot avec changement du mot de passe y compris création d'un nouvel utilisateur. Le problème est encore sans solution.
11) Continuation du boot en mode recovery. Finaliser l'installation. Les commandes sont connues
apt update
==> Il reste encore 152 paquets à installer
apt upgrade
sans aucune surprise, un message d'erreur
E: dpkg a été intérrompu. il est nécessaire d'utiliser "dpkg --configure -a " pour corriger le problème.
12) Donc correction du problème et continuation.
Cela permet d'installer quelques paquets, de tenter de booter normalement, de constater que les mots de passe des deux utilisateurs ne sont toujours pas reconnus, donc de continuer en mode recovery
13) Et on arrive à la reconfiguration du paquet "Friendly-recovery"
C'est censé installer le grub en dual boot. Donc il parcourt les partitions et tout semble bien se passer.
Mais il semble ne pas dire qu'il a bien travaillé car lorsqu'on reprend, c'est toujours lui qui est proposé.
14) Pour l'instant, je ne sais pas me sortir de cette boucle.

Après trente minutes d'attente de réponse , je choisis de rebooter sauvagement
15) De nouveau je lance
dpkg --configure -a
La configuration se fait alors bien. Il ne reste plus que les commandes standards
apt install -y
apt upgrade
apt full-upgrade
apt autoremove
exit
puis
resume pour se retrouver connecté automatiquement comme avant!
